Harefield Barn Wedding | Charlotte & Ethan

A Relaxed & Colourful Harefield Barn Wedding in Devon

A Love Story That Started at Work

Some love stories begin in the most unexpected places, and for Charlotte and Ethan, it all started when they both joined the same company as graduate recruits after finishing university.

What began as colleagues quickly turned into something more, with their first date consisting of dinner followed by a trip to the cinema. From there, their relationship grew naturally, leading them to this incredible day surrounded by the people they love most.

A Proposal They’ll Never Forget

Not every proposal goes exactly to plan and that's what makes them memorable.

While on holiday in Bulgaria, Ethan had planned the perfect proposal. Unfortunately, Charlotte accidentally discovered the engagement rings after Ethan passed her some change from his wallet while leaving a car park.

With the surprise slightly spoiled, Ethan carried on with his plan and attempted to propose in the sea. Kneeling down on a rock, he promptly lost his balance and fell over.

It might not have been picture perfect, but it was perfectly them and made for a proposal they'll be laughing about for years to come.

A Relaxed Harefield Barn Wedding

Charlotte and Ethan chose the beautiful Harefield Barn for their wedding, creating a day that reflected their personalities perfectly.

With subtle galaxy-inspired details woven throughout the day, from their invitations to their wedding rings, alongside a rich dark teal colour palette, the styling felt elegant while remaining completely unique to them.

Above all else, they wanted one thing.

To have all of their favourite people together in one place for an unforgettable celebration.

And that's exactly what they got.

From emotional moments during the ceremony to the packed dance floor in the evening, the entire day was full of laughter, happy tears and endless smiles.

Harefield Barn is the perfect venue for couples wanting a relaxed countryside wedding. Surrounded by rolling Devon countryside, the venue offers beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces that allow every part of the day to flow effortlessly.

My approach was to document everything naturally as it unfolded, stepping in only when a little guidance was needed. This meant Charlotte and Ethan could spend more time enjoying their guests and less time standing in front of the camera.

One of my favourite parts of the day was seeing everyone make the most of the outdoor games and bouncy castle. It created such a fun atmosphere and gave guests of all ages something to enjoy, resulting in plenty of genuine laughter and candid moments throughout the afternoon.

As the sun began to set over the Devon countryside, we slipped away for a few relaxed portraits before heading back to the party, exactly how wedding photography should feel.
