If you're marrying in winter, it's also worth knowing how quickly the light disappears, so group photographs and portraits need to happen fairly promptly after your ceremony to make the most of the daylight you've got.

Real Bickley Mill Weddings
Sophie and Nicky's New Year's Eve wedding was a proper winter celebration, deep reds, Christmas touches and frost on the ground, with their young daughter Joni an absolute favourite of the day, loved by everyone and captured enjoying every moment with the guests.
Jordan and Rees married here in April, on a warm, sunny day full of colour. Jordan had planned every detail meticulously, and when her daughter grew unsettled during the ceremony, my priority was simply giving her space to relax rather than adding more to photograph. That's exactly my approach, keeping things natural and unstressed so you can enjoy your day rather than feel photographed at every turn. The evening more than made up for it, with Jordan grabbing the DJ's mic to get everyone dancing, a saxophone player, karaoke, and groomsmen's ties ending up as bandanas by the end of the night.
Mel and Jazz married here in the middle of summer, during a proper heatwave. It was hot and sunny all day, but the mood stayed just as relaxed, with everyone happy to sit back with a cold drink between moments. Portraits were taken after the ceremony, after group photos and after giving everyone a short break to cool down, since I didn't want anyone overexerting themselves in that heat. With only short coverage booked for the day, there wasn't the option to leave portraits until later, so it was about finding shaded, backlit spots that still worked beautifully in that bright summer light.
