If you’ve recently tied the knot — whether it was at a romantic countryside venue in Devon, a sandy beach in Cornwall, or a grand manor house in Somerset — one of the first questions you might have after the confetti settles is: how long does it take to get your wedding photos back?

As a professional wedding photographer based in Devon and covering Somerset, Cornwall, and the whole of the South West, I completely understand your excitement. You’ve just had the most incredible day of your life, and you’re eager to relive those moments through your photos.

Here’s the truth: my typical turnaround time for wedding galleries is 6–8 weeks. This is actually very standard in the wedding photography world — in fact, many photographers in the UK work to a similar timeline. Sometimes you might get them a little earlier, especially in quieter months, but during peak wedding season (usually late spring through early autumn) it can take the full 8 weeks.

So How Long Does It Take to Get Your Wedding Photos Back in Devon and Somerset?

Sneak Peeks Within 48 Hours

I know waiting can feel like forever, which is why I send every couple a handful of sneak peek photos within 2 days of their wedding. These are fully edited highlights from your day — perfect for sharing with friends and family or posting on social media while the memories are still fresh.Whether you got married at Cockington Court in Torquay, Tawstock Court in Barnstaple, or somewhere tucked away in the rolling Devon countryside, you’ll have a small selection of stunning images to enjoy almost immediately while you wait for the full gallery.

Why Does It Take 6–8 Weeks?

Your wedding gallery isn’t just a set of images straight from the camera — it’s a carefully curated story. After your big day at places like Crowcombe Court in Taunton, St Audries Park in Somerset, or Tawstock Cout in Barnstaple, I’ll start by backing up every single image to multiple locations to keep them safe.

From there, the process looks like this:

  1. Sorting & Culling – A wedding day often produces 2,000–4,000 images. I carefully go through them all, selecting the best moments — no blinks, no blurry shots, no duplicates.

  2. Editing & Colour Grading – This is where the magic happens. Every chosen image is adjusted for colour, exposure, contrast, and style so they match my signature vibrant-yet-luxurious look.

  3. Retouching Details – I’ll remove distractions like background clutter or flyaway hairs, ensuring the focus is on you and your loved ones.

  4. Gallery Delivery – Once complete, your final wedding gallery is uploaded to a private, easy-to-use online gallery so you can share with family and friends anywhere in the world.

Peak Season vs Off-Peak

If your wedding is in June, July, or August, your turnaround will likely be closer to 8 weeks simply because of the volume of weddings during that time. In the quieter winter months, you might receive them a little faster.

Remember – Photographers Are People Too!

Just like you, we have families, friends, and lives outside of work. Your wedding is incredibly important to us, but so is making sure we deliver your photos at the highest standard possible. Rushing that process would mean compromising on quality — and you deserve nothing less than perfection.

So, if you’re planning your wedding in Devon, Somerset, or anywhere in the South West of England, you can expect to receive your full gallery in around 6–8 weeks after your special day — and trust me, they’ll be worth the wait.
